Decoressence is a London based, interior decorating and home services company run by decoration guru, Andrea Roth. Andrea approached us to create an identity from scratch and to design a website that would showcase the Decoressence talent, flair and efficiency.

The first step was to create the logo. Andrea was looking for something that would illustrate the feminine slant to the business and convey an elegant yet powerful image. The result is below.

With the logo established, we set to work on designing the website. It’s just gone live and Andrea tells me she has already had some very positive feedback. You can judge for yourself at www.decoressence.co.uk

The founder of the Tabernacle Arts Cafe will be interviewed in the next issue of Art & Culture magazine. The design below is intended to illustrate the article and demonstrate the creativity and energy of the cafe.

The Tabernacle Arts Cafe is holding an evening of jumpin’ swing later this month. Below is our design for the publicity poster. Go daddy-o go and so forth…

Mind are launching a comedy night next month and briefed us to create a concept for the look and feel of the event, beginning with a logo. The logo had to work independently of the Mind insignia but still be clearly linked. We used the distinctive scribble element of the Mind brand within this new ident and gave it a topical relevance by converting it into a microphone lead. This established a visual connection while serving to demonstrate the nature of the event.

The next stage of the brief was to create a promotional poster that would expand on the identity, generate interest and be adaptable enough to work within different mediums such as newspaper ads, postcards etc. We provided three concepts which can be seen below. A few months ago, Mr Myles Music approached us to design a logo and identity for a new venture that would allow teachers and parents to download songs or scores for young children. Having completed the overall branding we began work on creating the e-commerce site. It had to appeal to adults and children alike while providing a mixture of professionalism and fun. A key part of the brief was to ensure that the client could easily update the content of the site themselves.

The response from the client has been fantastically positive and they were kind enough to provide this testimonial:-

Professor Ian Linden is a highly respected author and campaigner, focusing particularly on religion and conflict in Africa. He is an advisor to the UK Government on the role of religions in society and an associate professor at the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Ian briefed us to create invitations for the official launch of his latest book, Global Catholicism. The overall design had to be elegant, concise and deliver a certain amount of gravitas without being too solemn.

We produced several, distinctive concepts which Ian was kind enough to describe as “extraordinarily good”. Two of these concepts are shown below. The top example was the one actually used.

Living Streets is an organisation that campaigns to create better streets and public spaces for people on foot. They briefed us to create a poster to encourage people to make a pledge to walk more often – either to work, picking up the kids, during lunch etc. It had to be eye-catching, colourful and persuasive. The result is below:-

Living Streets research, advise and deliver positive, practical solutions covering pedestrian issues. They invited us to pitch for a new campaign called ‘Fitter for Walking’. It aims to encourage people to walk more and to take an active interest in improving their local, public spaces. As a result of this pitch we have been asked to begin work on a related project which we’re very excited about. We’ll fill you in on all the details as we progress.

In the meantime, we thought it would be interesting to take a glimpse at how we approach pitch work with a short, behind the scenes peek.

We devised several logos to crystalise the overall concept and to tie in with the current branding for Living Streets. Two versions are shown below:-

We provided a detailed proposal, covering each element of the campaign and explained how we felt it could work together as a cohesive, effective whole. We created illustrations with a point-by-point breakdown of each section. A few examples of illustrations can be seen below:-

Mr Myles Music is aimed at teachers and parents of young children who would like to download songs or buy songbooks to help their young’uns learn and have fun with music. We were approached to create a complete identity and to design and build a content managed e-commerce site.

The final logo is below and we’re working on the site at the moment. It will be up and running in the next few months and I’ll let you know as soon as it’s finished.
